Before attacking the challenge of learning a whole new language, It's essential to mentally prepare yourself for the journey to come. Think of it as packing your luggage and a few snacks before you hit the road, filling up on gas before you leave town.
The question you must ask yourself before commiting to learn anything is "Why?"
We did this project at the start of the year to fuel up on motivation. Students explored different opportunities that learning a foreign language provides. They took a wholistic approach researching not only how Spanish could make them money, but how it could improve other areas of their lives as well as the lives of the people they may encounter. Later in the semester, if they become discouraged or less motivated, which is natrual, they can revisit their projects to refuel.
Who better to inspire them than themselves?
Antes de afrontar el reto de aprender un idioma completamente nuevo, es esencial prepararse mentalmente para el viaje que se avecina. Piensa en ello como si hicieras la maleta y unos alimentos antes de salir a la carretera, y llenaras el depósito de gasolina antes de salir de la ciudad.
La pregunta que debes hacerte antes de comprometerte a aprender algo es "¿Por qué?"
Hicimos este proyecto al comienzo del año para alimentar la motivación. Los estudiantes exploraron las diferentes oportunidades que ofrece una lengua extranjera. Adoptaron un enfoque holístico investigando no sólo cómo el español podría hacerles ganar dinero, sino cómo podría mejorar otras áreas de sus vidas, así como las vidas de las personas con las que puedan encontrar. Más adelante en el semestre, si se desaniman o pierden la motivación, lo cual es natural, pueden revisar sus proyectos para reponer fuerzas.
¿Quién mejor para inspirarles que ellos mismos?
